Am I failing?

Peanut will be our 4th foster dog, so at least we wouldn't be failed fosterers if we keep her -would that make our grade a "C" or "B-"?
Ms. Peanut seems to fit in pretty well. She still cries alot like a big baby and follows us incessantly around the house, but maybe that's what makes a good "farm dog".
She and Limo play rough and hard and Limo wouldn't want it any other way. They play chase, tug-o-war, keep away, face fight, roll on top of each other etc.

Peanut will plop down ANYWHERE and LOVES to be hosed off which are both good traits for a farm dog... she enjoys getting into the lake as well. It can be nice to have a dog that is self sufficient in the cooling off department.

I wouldn't feel too guilty keeping her, I mean she has some funny quarks, still cries alot and let's face it, she ain't the prettiest gal on the block:-) She has a tear on her ear, scars on each shoulder and some broken teeth. And thanks to Limo she may have a scared nose :-x But she is cute and soft and compact.

She's 5 years old and her face is already graying. She's not cat safe and I don't think she ever will be.

As a foster mom I'm usually better at updating the foster's blog, and this time I've just been blogging about her here;-)

I like her :-). Reagan still follows me everywhere, but her crying is much much better.

Awww c'mon.. I think she is sweet! The bumps and bruises just give them "character", right?
(Hey- they give US "charater" too! LOL)

I think she's figured out what it is you're looking for and is trying to be "that dog". She doesn't know how to put on make up yet to cover up her boo boos, but really - who wants a dog all made up?

I'm very excited to meet her next week!

LOL, Oh don't get me wrong I think she's very cute, but as a "seasoned" greyhound person/ owner I feel like I should adopt kind of a not so pretty or perfect one:-) Leave those to the new adopters. Keeping Peanut will be the end of our back-to-back fostering so it's a big decision. I'll feel bad about not being able to foster much, but if I take in one with a lot of "charater" then I feel less guilty- maybe I should have explained that part better:-)

Denise!!! Fail fail fail! She looks so at home with Limo and with you! Believe me, it's been funny, watching various people scope out dogs for you...wanting you to have a "pretty" one. Peanut is pretty, but in a rough and tumble way. Since this is on your personal blog, she was pretty cantankerous at the kennel...along with Ms. Kadabra. I think you have the magic touch. I probably wouldn't have even said she had soft fur ;). I love the pic of her getting hosed down. I give you a lot of credit for all the fostering you have done. You have had some challenging dogs, and you have risen to the occasion...and given them a great shot at their new life. Peanut was waiting! Gotta' admire a dog with 100 plus races under her belt. I'd give her that!

I totally got what you were trying to say, and I say "keep her!" She really is the perfect dog for someone like you, because she isn't perfect, and not everyone can handle dogs with issues.

When we adopted our rescue dog, his bio specifically said that he must be placed with an experienced Aussie family, because he had some "issues." The rescue lady said that he would be one that she would keep if just the right home did not come a long. Thankfully we did :)

Let the pretty, non-quirky, easy to adopt out dogs go, and keep your new friend!

Hey D! Finally got some internet access (still not home til the end of the month)
I say follow your gut (and heart). As with Les, you'll know what's right. :)
Not everyone fosters forever and I have to say I agree with a lot of the comments. But in the end the decision is yours (well, Matt, Limo and Les's too) lol

Congrats Denise! There is nothing wrong with failing fostering - we've all done it! I'm sure Limo is happy as a clam!
