That's the spot...

Lately Lester has been falling down-itchy on the inside of his hocks. Almost literally. I was currying him and hit the usual itchy spots and got some nose and a little leg action then I reached the inside of his hock and hit that "spot" you see on the left and he practically fell on me with glee. It was rather odd, I found the spot and it was a little scabby, but nothing I could figure out- like is it a bite, fungus, what? But every time I touched and scratched it he would "groom" the floor and he would tremble... Is this a case of it hurts so good?

How odd?

Maybe there is some fungus among us? I don't know, up here my guess would be rain rot - but that doesn't look like rain rot at all.

Maybe it was just particularly itchy that day? Allergies?

The one thing I haven't dealt with too must is skin issues...

Keep me posted I am curious now...

Get out the grandpa soap and wash him with it. It will kill it whatever it is. And the pine tar will keep it less itchy.

I love it when they paw the ground when I hit the sweet spot!

SHRINERS spray!
huh, that spot is a funny weird place for things.

I use Shriners on everything..it seems to cure all ill.
Though for open and raw things..it will sting, but is still the best.

I fell the other night while walking back to my car in the dark up the drive. I somehow saw the pile of soaking hay...just missed that...to just find myself down -zip- like that!Skinned my knee pretty bad. Stopping in to mom's on the way home..Shriner's was the only thing she had.(my sister's)
It stung..I fummed, but the next day, nothing but healing skin. Though it has taken me a week to get over the train-crash body ache!

I wonder what it could be? Maybe just a spot where he got rubbed and now it's itchy from grass or something?

Got a crack up from the video! Less has got his serious feel good face on.

I wondered about this too. My Quinn gets summer sores from the flies, I spray with Pyrhana, but it's still there. Same exact reaction too, he wants to fall down to get scratched.
Try something that will alleviate the itching, maybe Furazone cream? I'm really not sure what causes it... maybe similar to our foot fungus? I know I itch when it's hot and muggy here.
See if any of the things here suggested work. I've never seen Shriners spray, but I'd be interested to see if that worked too.

Hey... I saw a post over at Brown Eyed Cowgirl's blog, that mentions a site for a supplement for EPM...just thought that you might be interested! She is really quite knowledgable, so I would recommend taking a look at what she mentions. :)

You can also get to her from my blog, if this doesn't work!

About that itch...I have no idea, but it obviously is REALLY itchy...lol!!!
